Wilhelm Denner

Wilhelm Denner (born December 24, 1859 in Empfertshausen ; † May 11, 1920 in Waltershausen ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Denner was the son of a day laborer. He attended elementary school and then worked as a wood turner. Since 1890 at the latest he was a material goods dealer in Waltershausen.

From 1889 he was one of the leading functionaries of the SPD in Waltershausen; From 1898 to 1911 he was a city councilor, and in November 1904 he became an unpaid city councilor (Senator) in Waltershausen. In the state elections in 1896 he was elected to the Gotha state parliament for the first time . In 1900, 1904 and 1908 he was able to defend his mandate.

From 1905 to July 1909 he was the full-time cashier for health and disability insurance in Waltershausen. In 1909 he was released for embezzlement and in February 1911 sentenced to prison for embezzlement. As a result, he also lost his political offices and was later no longer politically active.
