Wilhelm König (politician, 1884)

Wilhelm König (born June 4, 1884 in Hetlingen , Pinneberg district , † probably 1945) was a German politician ( SPD / KPD ) and trade unionist . He was a member of the Prussian state parliament .

Life

König moved to Berlin as a child . He learned the trade of mechanical engineering here and joined the SPD here before the First World War . In 1918 he was chairman of the workers' council at AEG . In 1920 he joined the KPD. Until 1923 he worked as the Works Council of AEG Turbine Berlin, then as council chairman. He ran for membership in the German Metal Workers' Association (DMV) on the list of communists. In 1928, König was elected to the Prussian state parliament for the KPD.

In 1929, as the top candidate on the “red list”, König won the majority in the works council election for AEG Turbine in Berlin-Moabit . König opposed the ultra-left course of the KPD leadership. In a letter to the Central Committee of the KPD, he protested against the creation of “red”, that is, Communist works council candidates of their own. In 1930, König and Social Democrats successfully ran for the works council election in the same company on a joint list. This list managed to reverse the majority in the company. As a result, König was expelled from the KPD. However, from March 1930 he remained in parliament as a non-attached party and later rejoined the SPD.

There are many indications that King during the Nazi regime under the code name "Henry" - but at least from 1935 to 1937 - as an undercover agent of the Gestapo reported on the resistance activities of the illegal SPD and their operation cells work.

In 1945, König last lived at Fehmarner Strasse 21 in Berlin-Wedding . In 1945 he was arrested by the NKVD and has since disappeared without a trace.
