Wilhelm Kammann

Wilhelm Kammann (born September 5, 1922 in Oldenburg , † April 27, 1980 in Sande ) was a German politician (SPD). Kammann was the mayor of Varel and a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

Kammann attended elementary school in Varel and then completed an apprenticeship as a lathe operator. By attending the State Building School in Oldenburg, he received further training and subsequently worked - with interruptions from 1940 to 1945 - as a journeyman in his profession. Kammann was married and had one child.

politics

From 1946 Kammann was involved in the trade unions and in the SPD. From 1958 he was chairman of the local SPD association in Varel. He was a member of the board of the Lower Saxony City Association as the forerunner of the Lower Saxony City Council . Later he was a member of the supervisory board of Raiffeisenbank in Varel. From 1961 to 1976 he was mayor of the city of Varel. Kammann became a member of the district council of the district of Friesland. From May 6, 1959 to June 20, 1978, Kammann was also a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament, where he was chairman of the committee for internal administration from 1970 to 1978. Kammann was awarded the Grand Cross and the First Class Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .
