Wilhelm Russ

Wilhelm Russ (* 1891 or 1892; † May 16, 1957 ) was a German teacher and co-founder of the insurance company HUK-Coburg .

Russ began his school career as a teacher at the village school in Ringenwalde in the Neumark. After returning from the First World War , he became headmaster in Ringenwalde. In 1927 he passed the examination to become a high school teacher.

Together with four like-minded teachers, Russ founded the Association of German Teachers (KVDL) in autumn 1928 and became its first chairman. He was advised by Pastor Karl-August Fritsch , who had founded a similar association of drivers in 1926 with the Pfarrer-Kraftfahrer-Vereinigung eV (PKV).

In 1930 Ruß became rector of the boys' school and head of the commercial and industrial vocational school in Schwiebus . In 1933, together with Karl-August Fritsch, he founded the Liability Assistance Fund for Kraftfahrender Beamter Deutschland eV , today's HUK-Coburg .

In World War II , soot was used as a major; he was taken prisoner of war. After his release he went to the western part of Germany. In 1947 he became a teacher and later head of the vocational school in Windsheim . At HUK-Coburg he was a member of the supervisory board from 1951 to 1955, then a member of the board until his death in 1957.

Supported by the HUK-Coburg, Russ founded the Association of German Officials (KVDB) as the successor organization to the KVDL in November 1955 . Soot became the first chairman of the KVDB, which, after being renamed several times, later became the Automobil- und Reise-Club Deutschland (ARCD).

Soot died on May 16, 1957.
