Wilhelm Steger

Wilhelm Steger (born March 28, 1902 in Marktbreit ; † August 20, 1985 in Traunstein ) was Lord Mayor of Traunstein from 1960 to 1972.

After the death of Josef Kößl on March 27, 1960, the lawyer was elected Lord Mayor of the Upper Bavarian city of Traunstein with 72.9 percent of the vote as a candidate for the Independent Voters Traunstein. In the local elections on March 13, 1966, he was confirmed in office with 54.1 percent of the vote.

During his twelve years at the head of the city, a number of municipal infrastructure projects were implemented, such as the conversion of the district hospital into a modern specialty hospital, the construction of a new swimming pool, the construction of gyms for the Annette Kolb grammar school and the boys' elementary school at the Rosenheimer Road, the construction of a nursing school. On Kotzingerstraße, the development of a commercial area with a siding was initiated.
