history

First mention

The area that today includes the district Wilhelmshöhe belonged to the municipality of Stockum in 1823 when the original cadastre was drawn up and was called Aufm Wellersfelden . Agriculture shaped the townscape.

renaming

Around 1890, the idea of erecting a monument to the Prussian King and German Emperor Wilhelm I arose in the Stockum community . However, since the municipality lacked the necessary capital for its project, the Aufm Wellersfelden area was renamed Wilhelmshöhe on April 6, 1899, based on the name of the emperor .

Wilhelmshöhe today

Mainly one and two-storey residential developments can be found in Wilhelmshöhe, but some of the last agricultural fields in the city of Witten are also located there .
