Willading (patrician family)

The family of Willading is a potentially from Willadingen originating Bernese patrician family , which since the 15th century, the burger right possessed the city of Bern, the society butchers belonged and 1824 in the male line died out.

history

The butcher Peter Willading settled in Bern in the first half of the 15th century, acquired the Bern citizenship law, became a member of the butchers' society and was mentioned as a member of the Small Council from 1450 onwards. Eleven Willading were Venner to butchers, three were Seckelmeister and Johann Friedrich became mayor of Bern. Emperor Joseph I raised the family to the nobility in 1710. With Sigmund Rudolf Willading the family died out in 1824.
