Willem Mons
Willem Mons , also Moens de La Croix , (* 1688 ; † November 16, 1724 ) was a close confidante of Catherine I of Russia . His sisters were Anna Mons and Matrena Mons, his niece Natalia Lopuchina . They were of German descent .
Willem is said to have stolen from Katharina. After a brief but brutal interrogation by Pyotr Andreevich Tolstoy , Mons was convicted on November 14, 1724 and executed two days later . His head is preserved in ethanol in the Art Chamber of Saint Petersburg .
