Willi Hüll Observatory

The Willi Hüll observatory is a public observatory operated by the Astronomy Association in Heidenheim an der Brenz . It was inaugurated on September 30, 2006 and is the only observatory in the Heidenheim district . It can be used by high school students and amateur astronomers .

The observatory is located at approx. 540 m above sea level in Heidenheim- Mergelstetten on the Erbisberg . In the dome there is an APQ 150/1200 telescope from Carl Zeiss on an Alt6 mount with FS2 control. A small Coronado PST 0.5 A solar telescope has also been located there since April 2008. Guided tours and astronomical lectures take place in the observatory.

A Celestron C14 with Hyperstar has also been in operation since March 2013 .

In October 2019 the observatory was named "Willi-Hüll-Sternwarte" after the former chairman of the Heidenheim Astronomy Association. Before that it was called "Heidenheim Observatory".
