Willi Egli

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Willi Egli (born September 29, 1943 in Zurich ) is a Swiss architect .

Egli first completed an apprenticeship as a draftsman with Benedikt Huber and then worked for two years in Ernst Gisel's office . Studies and competition success enabled him to set up his own office. In his work, he attaches great importance to the careful integration into the architectural and urban development context, the sculptural elaboration, the composition of forms and the continuous flow of space. His focus is on the formation of community-building places.

For example, the church in Affoltern offers a public front courtyard that creates a cloister-like, introverted situation. The terrain slopes down like a relief and continues into the church. His Altried housing estate is a synthesis of multi-family houses and individual row houses.

Willi Egli was chairman of the city of Nuremberg's architectural advisory board until 2016 .
