William Baldé (born April 4, 1971 in Kindia , Guinea ) is a French-Guinean musician.

Live and act

Baldé grew up in Guinea and later in Senegal and then went to his father in Paris when he was 15. In the 1990s he was part of the band Yuba, which released the album Everybody Nyani-Nyani in 1996 . Despite praise and prizes (Découverte RFI and Grand Prix de la SACEM ), the band could not hold their own.

Baldé then moved around the world as a musician, in addition to France and Africa he performed mainly in Asia and Northern Europe. In the mid-2000s he got a record deal with Warner Music and together with the musician and songwriter Gil Gimenez he made his first album. He also went on tour in 2007 as a support act for Christophe Maé . With his debut album En corps étranger he entered the top 10 of the French album charts in June 2008. A week later, his summer hit Un rayon de soleil became number 1 in the single charts.

In the album title song "En corps étranger" - in a strange body - Baldé sings about his life between Europe and Africa. It's about people in France who don't take him seriously, the cold that stings his eyes and the constant feeling of being a stranger. But he no longer feels at home in Africa either, but travels there frequently.
