Christophe Maé
Christophe Maé (born October 16, 1975 in Carpentras ; actually Christophe Guy Frédéric Martichon ) is a French singer whose five solo albums in France all reached first place in the charts.
biography
Since his father is an avid jazz musician, Christophe Maé learned to play drums, violin and singing at the age of six. He was also an excellent athlete until he was bedridden by a serious illness when he was sixteen. He spent the time practicing the guitar and harmonica.
After that, he devoted himself entirely to music, played as a bar musician in the south of France and, at the age of eighteen, had around 200 performances a year. He played a mixture of soul, blues and reggae pieces according to his musical role models Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley .
In 2005 he received a record deal and the single J'ai la aime was created . But he put his solo career on hold for the time being after he had successfully applied for the musical Le Roi Soleil , which is about the Sun King Louis XIV . He got the comic role of Monsieur le frère du Roi , the eccentric brother of the king who was inclined to his own sex. The musical was very successful and helped Maé to great popularity, also through the accompanying album, which sold almost a million times and stayed in the charts for a full two years (104 weeks).
In particular, the pieces Ça marche and Et vice Versailles helped him to be named French New Discovery of the Year at the NRJ Music Awards in January 2007.
Maé then resumed his solo career and released his own album. In March, Mon paradis immediately rose to number two in the French charts and rose to number one there as well as in the Walloon Belgian charts. The release On s'attache also made it to number one in the French single charts in May .
