William Broughton Carr

William Broughton Carr (* 1837 in Yorkshire , † 1909 in London ) was a British author and beekeeper .

Life

The son of small businessmen learned the profession of engraver and was successful as a businessman in the printing business in Liverpool . He later lived in Higher Bebington on the Wirral and became a beekeeper. He became editor of the Bee Journal and Record at the invitation of Thomas William Cowans . He also developed a double-walled hive, the so-called "WBC-hive", which was widely used in British beekeeping for a long time.
