William Nelson, 1st Earl Nelson
William Nelson, 1st Earl Nelson, 2nd Duke of Bronte , (born April 20, 1757 in Burnham Thorpe, Norfolk, † February 28, 1835 ) was the older brother of Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson .
The fame of his brother Horatio Nelson not only earned Pastor William a doctoral hat, but after his death in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, he also inherited the latter's title of Baron Nelson and Duke of Bronte along with manageable lands in Sicily . In his brother's place, he was made Earl Nelson on November 20, 1805 , accompanied by an annual pension for him and his heirs and a considerable sum of money to purchase a proper place: the Standlynch House in Wiltshire , bought in 1814 , that in Trafalgar House was renamed.
His only son Horatio died in 1808, with which his nephew Thomas Bolton inherited him as Earl. His daughter Charlotte was chosen by him to be the heir to the Sicilian Duchy of Bronte.
