Genrich Saulowitsch Altschuller
Genrich Altshuller ( Russian Генрих Саулович Альтшуллер , pseudonym of a writer Genrich Altow Russian Генрих Альтов , * 15. October 1926 in Tashkent , Uzbekistan ; † 24. September 1998 in Petrozavodsk (Karelia, Russia)) was a Russian engineer , scientist and science Fiction author.
Life
Altschuller made his first invention at the age of 17. He later graduated from the University of Azerbaijan in Baku and worked as a secretary in the patent office . He developed a set of general rules to help generate inventive, patentable ideas and came to believe that you can learn to be an inventor . Based on his experience , he and his long-time friend and colleague Rafael Borissowitsch Shapiro, under the influence of Dmitri Dmitrijevitsch Kabanov, created a systematic process based on a theory of inventive problem solving ( TRIZ ) and later also an algorithm for solving an invention problem ( ARIZ ). As Henrik Altschuller , he held a number of patents.
In 1948 he wrote a letter to Stalin in which he sharply criticized the situation of inventors in the USSR. He was then arrested on July 28, 1950 and sentenced to 25 years in a prison camp. But he used the time in the camp to develop his ideas, which he discussed with other imprisoned intellectuals, and for some of his inventions. After Stalin's death in 1953, his captivity was lifted and he himself was formally rehabilitated on October 22, 1954.
He made his debut as a science fiction author in 1957 with the story Sinotschka , written together with Vyacheslav Felitsyn, and his first own publication followed in 1958 with Icarus and Daedalus (published in German in Der Wurfspieß des Odysseus , edited by Yevgeni Brandis, Berlin 1981) . He wrote many of his stories, which have been collected in several volumes, together with his wife, Valentina Schuravljowa. Only a collection of short stories is available in German, which was published in the GDR under the name Genrich Altow and had several editions.
He died in 1998 of complications from Parkinson's disease .
