William T. Vetterling

William Thomas Vetterling (* 1948 ) is an American physicist.

Vetterling received his doctorate in solid-state physics from Harvard University and was a faculty member there from 1976. From 1984 he worked at Polaroid , where he researched image systems such as charge-coupled devices (CCDs), liquid crystal screens , solid-state lasers , photodiodes and new printing processes, for example from 2005 on zinc printing technology .

As part of his research, he dealt with numerical modeling and is co-author of the standard work Numerical Recipes . Vetterling is involved in around 30 US patents.
