William Wilson Morgan
William Wilson Morgan (born January 3, 1906 in Bethesda , Tennessee , † June 21, 1994 ) was an American astronomer.
He worked at the Yerkes Observatory . One of Morgan's main areas of work was spectral classification . Together with Philip C. Keenan he developed the MK system . Using distance measurements from E and B stars , together with Donald Osterbrock and Stewart Sharpless , he demonstrated the spiral arms of the Milky Way .
