Willibald Bösen (* 1938 in Mettlach ) is a Roman Catholic theologian , biblical scholar and was Professor of New Testament and Didactics at Bielefeld University .

From 1982 until the end of the 2003 summer semester he was Professor of Biblical Theology and its Didactics at Bielefeld University.

Bösens research focus is on the question of the historical Jesus. In his endeavors to reconstruct the world from which Jesus came and in which he lived, he seeks to illuminate the Gospels and make them speak anew with the help of archaeological investigations in Israel, especially in Galilee and Jerusalem. As a teacher with many years of practice, the didactic question is also a central concern for him. On the basis of the observation that the majority of people are visually inclined, he tries to reveal the inner structure of the biblical texts to the reader of the two testaments by means of text elevations, schemes, diagrams and further them with the help of geographic and topographical maps and sketches, as well as reconstruction drawings to illustrate.

Scientific career

Bösen studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Trier, Friborg (Switzerland), Innsbruck and Saarbrücken from 1959 to 1965, and education and German studies in Saarbrücken from 1962 to 1965. In 1965 he completed his studies with the 1st and 1967 with the 2nd state examination for teaching. During his twelve years as a teacher at various schools in Saarland (from 1965 to 1976), he obtained a Magister Artium degree in Pedagogy, German Studies and Theology (MA) and in 1970 with a thesis on The Silent God in the Psalms at the University of Saarland was made Dr. Josef Blank in 1976 with a study of the Mahl motif in Lukas. phil. PhD. From 1976 to 1982 he worked as a research assistant at the PH Westfalen-Lippe (Münster department), where he completed his habilitation in 1982 with a thesis on the Galilee - the living space and field of activity of Jesus . In 1982 he passed the examination for Dipl. Theol. At the theological faculty in Trier. from. From 1982 to 2003, Bösen was a full professor of biblical theology and its didactics at Bielefeld University. Since his retirement in 2003 he has continued to work in adult and teacher training.

He lives in Heusweiler and is married to Inge Bösen.
