Willibrorduskerk (Deurne)
The Willibrorduskerk is a Roman Catholic church in the Dutch town of Deurne .
history
In 1069 a church in Deurne is mentioned; Romanesque wall remains are archaeologically proven. The preserved Gothic high choir of the brick church was built around 1460 .
Between 1881 and 1884 the church was renovated and heavily rebuilt by the architect Pierre Cuypers . Two flank towers were added to the west tower. The basilica nave between the towers and transept, which partially collapsed during the renovations , was finally completely replaced. The choir and, apart from the vault of the north arm, the transept are medieval, making the church one of the more than 800 brick Gothic works in the Netherlands.
In 1960 and 2001 the church was restored again.
