The Willy-Brandt-Platz is a square in Bremerhaven on the Seebäderkaje in the New Harbor and covers approx. 13,000 m². It is part of the Havenwelten and was brought into its current form in 2012/2013. It is named after the former Federal Chancellor Willy Brandt .
The square was designed with masts with stop lights and various benches. The floor covering contains a distorted perspective of a school of fish and individual penguins. During high tides it is occasionally washed over by the Weser .
In 2015 the square was awarded the Green Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.
The Bremerhaven Unterfeuer , a red and white striped lighthouse , and the emigrant monument are located directly on Willy-Brandt-Platz .
The zoo by the sea , the climate house and the German emigration center are in the immediate vicinity .
