Willy Kraus

Willy Kraus (born 1918 in Düsseldorf ; died July 11, 2006 ) was a German economist.

life and work

Willy Kraus became a full professor at the Ruhr University in Bochum in 1965 . From the winter semester 1968/1969 he began teaching at the East Asia Institute. In 1983 his activity there ended with his retirement.

Kraus then took on a teaching position at the University of Duisburg-Essen and was one of the decisive pioneers of the East Asia program at the University of Duisburg-Essen. In 1994 he received an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Economics at the Gerhard Mercator University in Duisburg for his outstanding commitment.

One focus of his academic work was the economy of East Asia. Kraus was a visiting professor at Tōkyō University .
