Willy Schneider (composer)
Willy Schneider (born October 15, 1907 in Kirchheim / Teck ; † November 24, 1983 in Oberlenningen ) German composer , music teacher and conductor .
Life
Willy Schneider (pseudonym: Matthias Burger), son of the municipal music director Wilhelm Schneider, studied music from 1926 to 1927 in Duisburg and from 1928 to 1935 at the Conservatory in Stuttgart with Willy Bergmann (piano), Georg von Albrecht (composition) and Karl Adler ( Conduct). From 1935 to 1936 he completed the Kapellmeister class at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart with Carl Leonhard and settled in Stuttgart in 1935 as a private music teacher. After his first brass music composition “Notzinger Dorfmusik” was written in 1939, after the end of the war he increasingly turned to amateur brass music and chamber wind music. In 1949 he founded and directed the works band of the Scheufelen paper factory. In 1953 he was appointed to the University Institute for Music in Trossingen, where he headed the college for wind instruments. In 1954 Schott published his “Handbook of Brass Music” in Mainz. From 1954 to 1959 he was the youth leader of the German Folk Music Association and in 1961 he was appointed professor. He has led more than four hundred courses at home and abroad. In 1977 he retired.
