description

Wilson's Diner is a late example of the traditional "barrel roof diner" in Massachusetts and was in excellent condition at the time of entry into the NRHP. It was built in 1949 as hull number # 819 by the Worcester Lunch Car Company and is the only remaining diner in Waltham. It is named after its first owners, Chester M. and Alice Y. Wilson. Wilson's Diner is located just off US Highway 20 on the eastern edge of the city's business center, where it is connected to the adjacent building via a rear concrete extension in which the kitchen is located.

The dinner is on a foundation of brick and has a barrel roof ( English barrel roof ). The light blue and light yellow outer walls are made of enamel , the entrances are located on the narrow sides. In the interior, largely preserved in its original state, the marble counter extends the full length of the diner and has 18 bar stools. Wooden table niches along the south side offer additional seating. The exterior color scheme continues inside and is complemented by accents in black and steel.
