Wilton Railroad

The Wilton Railroad is a former railroad company in New Hampshire ( United States ). It was founded on December 28, 1844 and built a stretch of the Nashua and Lowell Railroad extending from Nashua to Wilton . The line was opened in sections from 1848 to 1851. The route to this station is around 25 kilometers. Originally it was planned to extend the route to Marlow , but this was not carried out. Later the Peterborough Railroad built part of this planned route.

From the opening of the entire Nashua – Wilton line, the management of Nashua & Lowell was incumbent, with which on April 1, 1854 a contract for joint operation was concluded. On April 1, 1873, the Nashua and Lowell finally leased the railway company. The contract went on October 1, 1880 to the Boston and Lowell Railroad and in April 1887 to the Boston and Maine Railroad . Today the route belongs to Pan Am Railways . Milford-Bennington Railroad has a right of joint use between Milford and Wilton .
