history
The name Sickher (derived from seepage ) first appears in 1482 in documents from Masevaux Abbey , to which the village then belonged.
Sickert was a village of farmers and weavers, the patron saint of weavers, Saint Severin , was venerated . The residents were called "the Good Lord's beavers" because they did a lot of the work in the village themselves. So they built the Mariahilf Chapel and its extension in 1962, including the later complete renovation. The entire drinking water supply was also installed by the residents after the Second World War.
From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Sickert belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the district of Thann in the district of Upper Alsace .
