Vieux-Thann (German Altthann ) is a French commune with 2843 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region . The church of Saint Dominique , which dates back to the 12th century, is important for its art treasures.

The municipality of Vieux-Thann is located in the Thur valley at the foot of the Vosges , immediately southeast of the city of Thann and about 20 kilometers from Mulhouse .

Thann has a station on the TER - railway Lutterbach-Kruth that on the same route as the route Tram-Train Mulhouse-Vallée de la Thur the Mulhouse tramway runs.

The French national road N 66 runs through the municipality , identical to the European route 512 , which leads from Mulhouse over the Col de Bussang to Remiremont in Lorraine.

Viticulture

In the municipality of Vieux-Thann, on the steep slopes of the Thur, with the Rangen, the southernmost wine-growing region in Alsace is located.
