Wegscheid is a French commune with 322 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Thann-Guebwiller , the canton Masevaux and the municipality association Vallée de la Doller et Soultzbach, founded in 2001 .
geography
The municipality of Wegscheid is located in the southeastern Vosges . The Doller River separates Wegscheid from the Kirchberg community , which together form a cohesive settlement pattern. The municipality is part of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park .
Neighboring communities of Wegscheid are Rimbach-près-Masevaux in the north, Moosch in the northeast, Masevaux and Sickert in the southeast, Kirchberg in the south, Dolleren in the west (point of contact) and Oberbruck in the northwest.
history
The name first appears in documents from the 13th century. Industry found its way into the 19th century.
From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Wegscheid belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the district of Thann in the district of Upper Alsace .
