Oberentzen (German Oberenzen ) is a French commune with 637 inhabitants (January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Thann-Guebwiller and the canton of Ensisheim .
geography
The municipality of Oberentzen is located on the Ill , about ten kilometers north of Ensisheim and 16 kilometers south of Colmar . In the west, the municipality extends to the Alte Thur , in the north the built-up area merges seamlessly into the municipality of Niederentzen . In the east of the municipality is part of the air force base " Base aérienne 132 Colmar-Meyenheim ", which was closed in July 2010 and is now an army barracks. The nearby A 35 autoroute with connection at Meyenheim connects the town to the south with Mulhouse and Basel and to the north with Colmar and Strasbourg .
history
Until the 13th century, the places Nieder- and Oberentzen still formed a single municipality. Even today, the development of the place on the northern boundary of the municipality forms a unit with that of Niederentzen .
The Saint-Nicolas church from 1744 replaced an earlier church from 1303. It is equipped with an organ by the organ builder Louis Dubois (* 1731 or 1726, † 23 February 1766) from 1759 with the original organ prospectus.
