It belongs to the Arrondissement Thann-Guebwiller , the canton Masevaux and the municipality association Vallée de la Doller et Soultzbach .

geography

The municipality of Burnhaupt-le-Bas is located about 15 kilometers southwest of Mulhouse , near the Burgundian Gate . The municipality is an important transport hub in south-western Alsace. This is where the A 36 (Mulhouse - Besançon ), the two-lane D 83 (to Colmar ) and some country roads meet. The Porte d'Alsace motorway service station is located in the municipality .

Neighboring communities of Burnhaupt-le-Bas are Schweighouse-Thann in the north, Heimsbrunn in the east, Bernwiller in the southeast, Ammertzwiller in the south, Gildwiller in the southwest, Soppe-le-Bas in the west and Burnhaupt-le-Haut in the northwest.

history

From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Burnhaupt-le-Bas belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the district of Thann in the district of Upper Alsace .
