Bitschwiller-lès-Thann (German Bitschweiler ) is a French commune with 1960 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Thann-Guebwiller and the canton of Cernay .
geography
The municipality of Bitschwiller-lès-Thann is located on the Thur between Thann and Willer-sur-Thur . It is flanked by mountains such as Weckenthalkopf , Grumbachkopf and Erzenbachkopf and is located in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park . The local mountain of the community is the Thanner Hubel (1180 m), which rises to the west of the village. The saddle-shaped mountain is used for agriculture: cattle breeding, dairy etc. Mountain farm inn.
A narrowing of the valley (La Rochelle) between Bitschwiller and the neighboring municipality of Thann means that the opposite mountain slopes are only about 300 m apart. The other neighboring municipality, Willer-sur-Thur , is two kilometers up the valley.

Transport links
Bitschwiller-lès-Thann has a station of the SNCF and the grid of the department of roads connected. The Joffre route leads over the Col du Hundsruck to Masevaux in the Doller Valley.
