Wiltrud von Bergen

Wiltrud von Bergen († January 6th around 995 in Bergen ) was the founder of the monastery, abbess and Benedictine .

Life

The founding of the Bergen monastery near Neuburg an der Donau goes back to Wiltrud von Bergen. She was married to Duke Berthold of Bavaria, lost all her property after his death and founded the monastery after the return of her goods by Emperor Otto II , of which she became the first abbess. On January 6th around 995 Wiltrud von Bergen, who was also called "Pia the Pious", died.

Her attributes are the discarded crown, the dove and the appearance of the cross.
