Wim Rietveld

Wim Rietveld , ( 1924 - 1985 ) was a Dutch designer . His father was the architect and designer Gerrit Thomas Rietveld .

In the drawing office of a factory for industrial scales, he initially worked as a drawing apprentice and later as head of the drawing office.

In 1950 he began training as a designer at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague . Due to his good thesis, Willem H. Gispen recruited him to work in his company Gispen . Rietveld worked for Gispen and the successful Gispen collection "Furniture for simple interiors" was created.

From 1960 he lectured at The Hague Academy and the former Technical University in Delft , where he was appointed associate professor in the field of industrial design in 1973.
