Life

Winand Theodor von Wylre was born on October 25, 1665 in Heerlen. His parents were the Aachen aldermen Johann Wilhelm von Wylre (1614–1686) and his wife Johanna Margareta von Quadt († 1717).

Winand Theodor von Wylre was elected lay judge, although he was not born in Aachen, as the rule provided. It is not known in which year this election took place. In 1685 he joined the Star Guild, the professional representation of the Aachen lay judges, and in 1692 he was first documented as a lay judge.

In 1713 von Wylre was elected mayor of the city of Aachen. Although he stated that for various reasons he could not accept the election and did not appear for the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for May 25, the council insisted on his election. Finally, von Wylre was sworn in on June 10th. In 1715 he was elected a second time.

Winand Theodor von Wylre died on April 25, 1717 and was buried on April 27 in the Church of St. Paul in the Dominican monastery in Aachen .
