The Windless Bight ( German Windless Bay ) is the large bay east of the Hut Point Peninsula in the south of the East Antarctic Ross Island . It is completely occupied by the ice masses of the Ross Ice Shelf .
The bay was given its descriptive name by the three-man team led by the British polar explorer Edward Wilson , who undertook the winter march to Cape Crozier during the Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913) .
