Creation of the Winske

The Winske ( Polish: Kanał Wiński ) is a tributary of the Oder in Opole . The Bolko Island is located between the Oder and Winske rivers .

The Winske was formerly also used for shipping, but was given up for this because of its narrow width and curvature. Before the flood channel was built and after the river was straightened, the Winske was about three kilometers long. Today the Winske is about 600 meters long and only connected to the Oder at one point.
