Flood Canal (Opole)

The flood channel in Opole is an artificial branch of the Oder .

The flood channel branches off from the Oder south of Bolko Island and merges with it north of the Odervorstadt (Zaodrze). The canal has a length of about five kilometers and an approximate width of 25 meters.

Construction of the flood canal began in 1935 from the north. After the Oder flood in 1997, the canal was expanded in 2000 and the flood dams were increased.
