Wir Freundinnen was a lesbian magazine in the Federal Republic of Germany , published from 1951 to 1952 in Hamburg . It was the first lesbian magazine in the Federal Republic and remained the only one until the UKZ - our little newspaper appeared in 1975.

Publication dates and edition history

We friends. Monthly magazine for women's friendship first appeared in October 1951 by Charles Grieger- Verlag, Hamburg, which also published several gay magazines. It was discontinued as early as the March issue of 1952. The magazine was distributed nationwide and, according to the legal notice, since the second issue also across Europe. The magazine had 26 pages and was illustrated.

Content, editing and authors

“Wir Freundinnen” contained literary contributions, political texts and reviews. The magazine's editor was Mary Ronald , who was featured in an editorial as having known Magnus Hirschfeld as early as the 1920s . Some authors' names such as Hildegard Franz or Charlotte were pseudonyms of the publisher Charles Grieger. Other authors were Othella Ladd, Hortense Chantal, Karen von Nottbeck, Astra, Corny; pseudonyms can also be found here.
