Economic landscape
An economic landscape is a type of landscape that is used in two different definitions:
Narrow definition as a sub-category of the agricultural landscape
An economic landscape describes intensively used agricultural areas through large-scale farming methods, which are characterized by leveling interventions by humans, clearing of spatial elements of the landscape and by uniformity and whose household is kept in ecological balance through artificial interventions.
This definition is not limited to the plant cover as an indicator of the intensity of land use , but also includes the degree of distance humans are away from an established cultural landscape to which the farmer still had an intimate relationship. For socio-ecological reasons, it is a concern of the industrialized countries to preserve and sustainably care for their cultivated landscapes (see also landscape management ).
Broad definition as a sub-category of the cultural landscape
The term economic landscape is a generic term for agricultural landscapes , commercial forests and industrial landscapes and stands next to the historical cultural landscapes, the settlement landscapes and the urban landscapes.
