Science portal b2i

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The science portal b2i book, library and information sciences was the project supported by the German Research Foundation since 2006 to set up a virtual specialist library for the fields of book, library and information science (funding period January 2006 to December 2007).

Interested parties from science, studies and practice were offered extensive research options in subject- relevant library catalogs , relevant specialist databases, quality-controlled Internet sources, solid factual information and full-text offers via a search mask . The service often also included ordering options for the specialist literature required.

b2i was designed as an open and expandable project that should take up current developments and offer interested parties space to collaborate. The project was therefore set up and expanded in close contact with the specialist community, and a scientific advisory board was set up as an interface to the community.

In February 2015, the b2i portal was shut down due to a lack of funding.
