Withem is a Norwegian progressive metal band from Oslo that was formed in 2011.
history
The band was founded in 2011 by guitarist Øyvind Voldmo Larsen, keyboardist Ketil Ronold and drummer Frank Nordeng Røe. A short time later, the singer Ole Aleksander Wagenius was added. After the members developed songs, they went to the Lionheart Studio . Larsen produced the material and also mixed it. Andreas Blomqvist from Seventh Wonder was a guest on the recordings as bass player . Then Miguel Pereira joined the cast as a permanent bass player. The album was released in October 2013 on Sensory Records under the name The Point of You . In the same year the band played on ProgPower Oslo and a year later on ProgPower USA .

According to the band biography on withemsite.com , the band has been influenced by groups like Symphony X , Pagan's Mind , Dream Theater and Circus Maximus . According to Pete Pardo, the band plays classic progressive metal on The Point of You , whereby like Circus Maximus they concentrate less on complexity and more on melody and catchiness. He described the song Mr Miruz as " Symphonic Progressive Metal", while Born to Live is melodic Power Metal .
