Seventh Wonder is a Swedish progressive metal band that was formed in Stockholm in 2000 .

history

The band was founded in 2000 by bassist Andreas Blomqvist, electric guitarist Johan Liefvendahl and drummer Johnny Sandin after their previous band project had split up. At the end of 2000, keyboard player Andreas Kyrt Söderin joined the band as a further member. With Seventh Wonder (2001) and Temple in the Storm (2003) the band recorded two demos in the following years. In the following years there were some line-up changes. Ola Halén from the power metal band Insania was for a time the singer of the band.

The longest member of the band was Andi Kravljaca (ex-Heave, Elsesphere). With this, the debut album Become was released in 2005 after the band had reached a contract with the Finnish label Lion Music. Shortly after the recordings, the band separated from singer Kravljaca again. With Tommy Karevik (ex-Vindictiv) the band found a new singer in 2005.

The second album Waiting in the Wings was released the following year. It was mixed and mastered by Tommy Hansen . In 2007 Seventh Wonder played concerts all over Europe and wrote new material for the next album. The third album, called Mercy Falls , was released in 2008.

After another tour of Europe, the band released their next album The Great Escape in 2010. On June 22, 2012, Tommy Karevik was announced as the successor to Roy Khan as the lead singer of Kamelot . Karevik supported Kamelot back in 2011 on the European tour as a background singer. At each of the concerts he was allowed to take on one title as lead singer. Karevik announced on the same day that he would still not leave Seventh Wonder and continue to support the band.

The album Tiara was released on October 12, 2018 .

style

Characteristic for the band is the high technical level of play, especially that of the electric bass. The works are melodic with clear vocals. The numerous tempo changes in the pieces are also style-defining.
