Vladimir Alexeyevich Piast

Wladimir Alexejewitsch Piast ( Russian Владимир Алексеевич Пяст , actually Vladimir Alekseevich Pestovskii / Vladimir Aléxéievitch Pestovski ; born  June 30, 1886 in Saint Petersburg ; † November 19, 1940 in Golitsyno ) was a Soviet poet, translator and literary critic. He was friends with Alexander Blok , who strongly influenced him.

Piast published his first poems in 1905. In 1930 he was arrested by the Stalinist authorities and lived in exile until 1936. He died in June 1940 and was buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery.
