Vladimir-Ivan was mentioned in the memorial book (Memorial) of the Novhorod- Siverskyj Monastery ( Спасо-Преображенського Новгород-Сіверського монастиря ) for the beginning of the 14th century he is recorded in the memorial index of Kiev .

The identity and origin of Vladimir Ivan are completely unclear. The name Iwan indicates a possible origin of Prince Iwan Iwanowitsch von Severien .

Vladimir was a prince under the rule of the Golden Horde under Khan Tochta.
