The Wohlhaupter GmbH is a company based in Baden-Württemberg Frickenhausen . It was founded in 1929 by Emil Wohlhaupter in the field of mold and tool making. Today Wohlhaupter is known worldwide as a manufacturer of innovative, modular tool systems for machining centers and turning / milling centers, face and boring heads , grooving heads, clamping tools and customer-specific solutions for bore machining.

The company founded in Stuttgart-Feuerbach in 1937 invented the flat and boring head (UPA), usually simply called “Wohlhaupter” in production , which today still generates around 1% of sales. With its modular "system tool" MultiBore, Wohlhaupter is the world leader in the boring tool sector. In 1944 the company headquarters were relocated to Frickenhausen and a new building was moved there in 1987. With a global sales network as well as specially founded subsidiaries in the USA and India, Wohlhaupter sells its tool systems worldwide. The company won two innovation awards.

In 2016, the American Allied Machine & Engineering Corp. joined Wohlhaupter as the majority shareholder.
