Architecture and history

The four-storey building, which dominates the street scene, was built around 1890. Until Fermersleben was incorporated into Magdeburg in 1910, the building was at Schönebecker Straße 33 . The palazzo-like seven-axis facade of the brick-built house is executed in the neo-renaissance style and structured in a representative manner. While the ground floor is rusticated , the first floor has triangular window canopies. The windows on the second floor have canopies in the form of segmental arches . The window axes on the sides of the front facade have an aedicular frame .

The protection was placed under the aspect that the building is to be seen as a typical Wilhelminian style suburban house, the historical facade effect of which has largely been preserved.

At the beginning of the 20th century the owner was the locksmith Wilhelm Ebeling , who lived on the ground floor of the building and also ran a jam shop there, which later traded as a sugar shop. At the end of the 1930s, the widow Anna Ebeling was the owner. The jam business was continued by a company named H. Duckstein & Sohn . In the other shop, Karl Krämer ran a watch, gold and silver goods store . In the post-war period, the electrician Erwin Dreyer owned the house. Currently (as of 2011) the building is empty and is in urgent need of renovation. The owner is looking for a buyer.
