The three-storey historicizing complex in U-shape from 1870 with a four-storey short entrance wing, the north designed inner courtyard, the south park, the former military chapel and the gate system on Wallstrasse was built as a garrison hospital (later army hospital) according to plans by military architect Ludwig Wachenhusen; the courtyard was also a small parade ground around 1908 and the parade shed also served as barracks for a machine gun group of grenadier regiment No. 89. The areas towards the palace park center now serve as a multi-storey car park.

After the Second World War until after 1990, the military of the Soviet Union used the military hospital. After the vacancy and the privatization of the area, the building was converted and refurbished as the Schlosspark-Residenz residential complex .
