Wolf-Dieter Just

Wolf-Dieter Just (* 1941 ) is a German Protestant theologian.

Life

Just received his doctorate in 1973 as Dr. theol. at the social ethics chair of the theological faculty in Heidelberg . From 1974 to 1978 he was visiting professor at the University of Nairobi (Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies), from 1978 to 1984 director of studies at the Ecumenical Research Exchange in Rotterdam (Netherlands), from 1984 to 2002 director of studies at the Evangelical Academy in Mülheim / Ruhr and from 2002 until 2006 he was professor for ethics and social philosophy at the Evangelical University of Rhineland-Westphalia-Lippe . Since his retirement he has continued to teach at the EvH Bochum and at the University of Düsseldorf .

In research and teaching, Just is particularly concerned with ethical questions of migration and asylum and follows a human rights approach. He is one of the founding members of the Federal Ecumenical Working Group on Asylum in the Church and was its federal chairman from 1994 to 2004, and honorary chairman since 2004.
