Wolfgang Hausner

Wolfgang Hausner (* 1940 in Vienna ) is a circumnavigator and author of sailing literature.

Life

Hausner grew up in Vienna . At the age of 21 he went to Australia and worked in mining , among other things . With his first self-built catamaran Taboo (10 m long) he sailed 50,000 nautical miles around the world. When he lost the ship off Papua New Guinea , he worked as a snail trader in Southeast Asia . The next ship, built in 1979, also a catamaran (18 m long), he built with his girlfriend Gerti. On the Taboo III the two undertook a ten-year circumnavigation together. In 1989 they returned to the Philippines. Today Hausner organizes sailing trips with the Taboo III in the Philippines . To date he has sailed 130,000  nautical miles . In addition to his writing activities, he is active as a diver .
