Wolfgang Schweiger (communication scientist)

Wolfgang Schweiger (* 1968 in Munich ) is a German communication scientist .

Life

He studied communication science, politics and law at the University of Munich , where he did his doctorate and habilitation. He had stays at the University of Zurich and the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven , Belgium. Then he was the first speaker of the DGPuK specialist group 'Computer-Mediated Communication' and co-founder of the e-journal 'Studies of Communication | Media'. From 2007 to 2009 he was a substitute professor at the Institute for Communication Studies at the Technical University of Dresden . From 2009 to 2013 he was Professor of Public Relations and Technology Communication at the TU Ilmenau . Since 2013 he has held the chair for communication science and online communication at the University of Hohenheim (Stuttgart), where he is the course director, deputy institute director and chairman of the admissions committee.
