Wolfgang Thaler (photographer)

Wolfgang Thaler (* 1969 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian architectural photographer . The focus of his work is contemporary architecture from 1950 onwards. He is particularly interested in Eastern Europe.

Life

The son of Helga and Eduard Thaler graduated from high school in 1987 in Salzburg. From 1989 to 1991 he worked at the Bavarian State School for Photography in Munich. In 1997 a six-week stay in Mexico City followed and the following year a four-week stay in Sofia and Tel Aviv. From 1999 to 2000 he was Artist in Residence in Mexico (La Panaderia). In 2000 Thaler received a Schütte Lihotzky scholarship. Since 2001 he has been running a foreign studio (BKA) in Japan (Fujino). In 2003/04 he was “Artist in Residence” in Paris. He lives in Vienna.
